How I saved $9 on Shampoo

Today was grocery shopping day, and boy were we getting low on shampoo, and when shampoo gets low you know conditioner will soon follow! This household has two people with quite long hair and one that washes his long locks every day. Toiletry items are just plain expensive. It doesn't matter what it is, from shavers to soap, they take you for every penny, and you've got to pay up because you don't want to stink, or your teeth to fall out. But there's never any need to purchase any of these items at full price. They constantly rotate through sales, and if you plan accordingly and stock up on items when they're on sale, you won't have to worry about paying full price because you run out. My shampoo brand of choice is Tresemme. You might have another brand that works better for your hair, or you might be someone who does well with any brand. Thankfully Walgreens app had a coupon for $5.00 off the purchase of four  Tresemme items. An unadvertised special was going on that was buy one get one for 50% off. That meant that I'd only be spending $5.29 on half the items, the rest would be $2.64. My total is $15.86 before the coupon. Take that $5.00 off and I'm down to $10.86, making my total $12.13 including tax. That means I only paid a total of $3.03 for each shampoo and conditioner, making a savings of $9.03. Now I've got a stockpile of shampoo and conditioner until the next sale or coupons, and that $9 can go towards something else I need, because money is tight, and every single dollar gets accounted for in my household.

I hope my savings journey will help others to be inspired to save money and/or to help understand the hard work it takes to be poor. We can't just go throwing our money around at everything. Even grocery shopping takes a lot of planning, because we have to save as much as we possibly can in every forum possible.
